EigenLayer has unveiled a whitelist security mechanism for EigenDA on the Ethereum mainnet to safeguard the platform against possible Sybil and DDoS attacks, thus ensuring strong and reliable services globally to its users.
This advanced security feature uses either IP address or ethereum address ECDSA authentication as a way of defending against attackers. While adding an extra layer of protection, EigenDA still continues to provide an amazing free-tier service with a throughput of 768KB every 10 minutes, which is much higher than what even the busiest Ethereum rollups currently require.
Moreover, Scalability has greatly been considered by EigenDA as shown in its extensive testing which saw peak throughputs up to 10 MB/sec on the mainnet. This remarkable capacity makes EigenDA one of the frontrunners when it comes to solving Ethereum’s data availability challenges.
For partners looking for more functionality, EigenDA now accepts requests for additional throughput above the free tier limit. This flexible approach facilitates accommodating high-throughput uses cases which in turn foster innovation within the entire ethereum ecosystem.
Looking ahead, EigenLayer has plans to introduce permissionless payments for blob throughput on EigenDA by year-end. This eagerly anticipated feature will empower users to reserve bandwidth at fixed rates, catering to high-throughput demands.
Meanwhile, the Eigen Foundation has launched the second phase of its EIGEN stake drop, a pivotal moment in the project’s token distribution strategy. With 113 million EIGEN tokens already distributed, the foundation aims to fuel ongoing development and enhance its AVS capabilities.
With over $12 billion in deposits since its mainnet launch in April 2024, EigenLayer is rapidly emerging as a cornerstone of innovation in the blockchain space.
