AssangeDAO’s token has increased by more than 80% since Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, was released after spending 1,901 days in the UK’s high-security Belmarsh jail on Monday.
As per data from CoinGecko, AssangeDAO’s token, $Justic price has surged 80%. However, at the time of writing, it was valued at $0.0004203, still surging 50%.
JUSTICE token’s price skyrocketed following Assange’s Monday trip to the isolated Pacific island of Saipan, the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands (NMI), a US commonwealth in the western Pacific.
AssangeDAO was formed in February of this year, to raise funds to be used to fight for the freedom of the WikiLeaks founder. An AssangeDAO member announced Tuesday that $37 million, raised from 16,593 ETH, is allocated for Julian Assange’s legal defense and advocacy efforts.
The Wikileaks founder is on his way to a courthouse on the island, where he is set to plead guilty on Wednesday to a single criminal charge in a plea deal that might allow him to walk free and return to Australia, perhaps ending his five-year legal battle.
“Julian Assange’s flight VJ199 landed in Bangkok a couple of hours ago: soon he will fly into U.S. airspace where he is due to appear before a U.S. judge,” the Wikileaks post said on Tuesday.
