Tron DAO founder Justin Sun has successfully won his defamation case against Chongqing Business Media Group, as announced by a Chinese court. The court’s decision highlighted that the allegations of insider trading, fraud, and money laundering against Sun were completely baseless.
In response to the court’s findings, the media group took immediate action to rectify the misinformation spread about Sun.

This legal battle began after the publication of a defamatory article by ‘the Media’ on March 11, 2022, which falsely implicated Sun in various illegal activities and claimed investigations by the FBI and IRS. The article went viral in a short time, even enticing other media outlets to cover the story similarly and severely damaging the reputation of Justin Sun.
Similar media outlets bombarded their audiences with terms such as “money laundering,” “insider trading,” “investigations,” and so on. In an effort to increase visibility and clicks, these desperate media sources aggressively amplified the article, causing it to go viral in no time. During this frenzy, any caveats about a lack of evidence or unverified accusations were visibly and conveniently overlooked by the media, whether purposefully or unintentionally.
The case continued for over two years, with the court ultimately ruling in favor of Sun. In the final verdict, the People’s Court of China ruled that all claims of Sun’s alleged involvement in insider trading, fraud, money laundering, or any other claimed investigations and other alleged wrong-doings, are entirely unsubstantiated.
The ruling prompted Chongqing Business Media Group to withdraw all defamatory content and publicly apologize to Sun. This resolution comes after the media group had previously disseminated unchecked allegations, which were found to lack factual backing.
Justin Sun responded to the victory with a post on X, where he shared his relief and satisfaction over the court’s fair judgment. He had initiated legal action following the publication of a defamatory article on March 11, 2022, which not only targeted him but also falsely implicated investigations by the FBI and IRS.
