IBM and the Government of Gujarat’s Department of Science and Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish an AI Cluster in GIFT City, leveraging IBM’s watsonx platform.
The goal of this program is to encourage cooperation and innovation among the area’s financial institutions. To accelerate the digital transformation of financial services in GIFT City, the AI Cluster will make an AI Sandbox, proof of concept support, AI literacy initiatives, and digital assistant technologies available.
Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, highlighted that this collaboration would position Gujarat as a leader in AI adoption and digital transformation efforts in India.
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India & South Asia, emphasized that the collaboration aims to make advanced AI solutions accessible to financial institutions in GIFT City, fostering better productivity, innovation, and customer experiences.
He added, “This collaboration is a significant step in our continued association with the Government of Gujarat to accelerate the digital transformation of the state. By establishing this AI cluster, our aim is to make the latest AI solutions easily accessible to the vibrant and growing number of financial institutions in GIFT City.”
IBM will provide cloud-based software tools as part of the MoU, enabling financial institutions to tweak and improve massive language AI models in a sandbox setting. In order to aid financial institutions in integrating these AI models, IBM will also create a digital assistant solution.
In line with its commitment to train two million AI learners by 2026 and skill thirty million people by 2030, IBM will develop an AI curriculum for colleges and institutions in Gujarat. The partnership also includes professional certifications and literacy programs to enhance the skills of the state’s workforce, preparing them for an AI-driven future.
