Odisha Police in India, partnering with IG Drones and StartUp Odisha, introduces cutting-edge AI technology in India to manage traffic and crowds during the upcoming Rath Yatra, ensuring enhanced safety and efficiency, as reported by the Financial Express.
The advanced AI system includes real-time congestion detection and vehicle counting, integrated with a network of drones and CCTV cameras. This seamless integration aims to enhance traffic management and public safety. The Traffic Command and Control Room will provide live updates to devotees, ensuring smooth navigation.
Five state-of-the-art drones with public announcement systems and fifty-five strategically placed CCTV cameras enhance crowd management, and real-time announcements, and improve incident response times and public safety.
For the first time, a WhatsApp ChatBot will offer real-time traffic updates to the public, facilitating efficient navigation. Augmented animated videos and LED vans displaying live traffic updates across the city will aid informed travel decisions based on inputs from the Traffic Command Center.
Dayal Gangwar, IPS, ADG Odisha Police, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “We are proud to announce this groundbreaking implementation of AI-powered technology for the auspicious Jagannath Rath Yatra. This marks a historic first in our unwavering commitment to public safety and efficient traffic management.”
A dedicated team will oversee drone operations, ensure safe and effective management, and coordinate emergency responses in real-time. Robust security measures will enforce no-vehicle zones and streamline traffic flow along the Grand Road.
This innovative approach underscores the Indian Police’s commitment to transforming traffic management and enhancing public safety during the Rath Yatra, showcasing the impactful integration of AI technology.
