Jeff Nicholas, previously the creative director at Yuga Labs for the Bored Apes Yacht Club (BAYC), announced on X that he is joining Meta’s Reality Labs as an executive producer starting in September.
At Meta, Nicholas will focus on virtual reality (VR) projects, working with the Reality Labs team to develop new entertainment experiences.
“I’m equally excited to dive back into VR with the amazing team at Meta Reality Labs as we explore the future of entertainment experiences,” Nicholas wrote in his announcement.
This will be Nicholas’s first position with a major tech company, as Meta is currently the seventh most valuable company in the world by market capitalization.
His responsibilities will include leading complex development projects and providing creative direction for a range of content, including social media, music, comedy, sports, and film/TV.
Nicholas’s move from BAYC to Meta is a big change. Although he is leaving the NFT world, he plans to stay involved with the BAYC community.
“I’m an Ape till I die, and I’m looking forward to continuing to be part of the community as this club, brand and legacy unfold in the days, months and years to come,” he said, showing his ongoing commitment to the community.
