Ava Labs Chief Operational Officer, Luigi D’Onorio DeMeo is thought to have had his X account hacked after sharing links to dubious airdrops and information about a recently released memecoin with a Pokemon theme.
In what appears to be a pump-and-dump operation, two of the posts from August 19 that have since been removed included the address to a Solana-based memecoin named Pika (PIKA), which is modeled after Pikachu, one of the main characters in the media franchise.

However, according to Dexsceener, shortly after the post, PIKA’s market cap reached a peak of $388,570 but immediately petered out, plunging over 99% to a currency market worth of $3,289.
Aside this incident, dubious websites saying that Ava Labs is giving out Avalanche tokens have been posted on DeMeo’s account, enticing people to connect their cryptocurrency wallet. Similar hack events have occurred this year. For instance, the Doja Cat’s X account hack to promote a fake token called $DOJA resulted in investors losing over $1.63 million.
