Donald Trump recently shared that he might offer a Cabinet position to Tesla CEO Elon Musk if he wins the 2024 presidential election.
In an August 19 interview with Reuters, Trump said he would “certainly” consider Musk for a position within his administration, should Musk agree to take on the role.
However, Trump did not specify which of the 15 available Cabinet positions, but there are positions such as Energy, Commerce, or Transportation, that might be a fit for the tech billionaire.
This consideration follows a conversation between Trump and Musk on August 13 during an X Spaces discussion that was delayed due to what Musk claimed was a “massive DDoS attack.”
The relationship between Trump and Musk has been inconsistent over the years. The billionaire did not support Trump in the 2020 election and in 2022 publicly suggested that the former president should retire.
However, Musk has changed his stance by endorsing Trump for the 2024 presidential election after the recent assassination attempt in July 2023. Since then, Musk has been more vocal in criticizing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, aligning more with Trump’s views.
Trump has also shown his support for Musk. The former president has even stated in an August rally that he now supports electric vehicles due to Musk’s backing.
