In a surprising move that has further intensified the ongoing controversy surrounding the WazirX hack, Nischal Shetty, the CEO of the popular Indian cryptocurrency exchange, has blocked users on social media platforms who have questioned his handling of the crisis.
The hack, which occurred on July 18th, resulted in the loss of over $234 million (Rs 2000 Cr) and has left users frustrated and anxious as withdrawal services remain suspended. After a long wait of over a month a withdrawal plan came out that too with little to no relief for user as only INR withdrawals will be available that too of 66% in stages even though no INR funds were affected in the hack with only plus point being fee reduction of Rs25 to Rs10.
While everyone is baffled on what to do now, as crypto withdrawals are still completely unavailable Nischal has taken this drastic measures to close his ears by blocking everyone on social media platform X . As a matter of fact he has also blocked us too.
The Crypto Times has been actively seeking answers regarding the ongoing issues surrounding WazirX, a cryptocurrency exchange once hailed as a cornerstone of India’s crypto landscape but now mired in controversy.
Just a few days ago, Shetty had stated in an interview that he preferred feedback over advice. he was seen saying to Sandep, ” Aap bohot advice de rahe ho merko… Advice mat do… feedback dedo…. Advice nai chaiye”(Translate: You’re giving me a lot of advice… Please don’t give advice… Give feedback instead… I don’t want advice) .
However, The Crypto Times is not alone. Several other influencers, crypto analysts, and former WazirX users have reported being blocked by Shetty after raising concerns or seeking answers. This collective silencing has only fueled the fire, prompting a wave of solidarity among those affected.
While we can understand that Nischal is steering a burning ship, and others voice can hurt, the goal is not to sink it but to save. Blocking everyone is not the solution.
We at CryptoTimes stand in support of users and that requires us to ask questions, blocking us on social media wont stop us.
