Justin Sun, founder of TRON, has stepped in to support Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, who is currently facing legal problems in France.
In a recent tweet, Sun suggested setting up a decentralized fund, with the hashtag “FreePavel DAO,” and offered to contribute $1 million of his own money to help Durov. However, this plan will only move forward if the community supports it and the process is kept decentralized.
Sun also tagged Elon Musk and Mario Nawfal to get them involved in the idea. Meanwhile, Telegram has also released an official statement backing Durov and urging for a quick resolution to his situation.
Durov was reportedly detained at an airport near Paris yesterday. While some early reports claimed it was related to Telegram’s content moderation practices, no official charges have been confirmed yet.
The hashtag #FreePavel is trending on social media, with many in the community questioning why the French government is targeting Durov.
In its statement, Telegram emphasized that it follows European laws and dismissed any claims that Durov or the platform are responsible for any wrongdoing.
