Robinhood has made a major move by adding Solana (SOL) support to its self-custody wallet app, available on both iOS and Android. As of August 27, users can now send, receive, and manage SOL and Solana-based tokens directly within the Robinhood Wallet.
This integration offers a new gateway to web3 for Solana, the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, providing a significant boost to an ecosystem with over $9.8 billion in total value locked and nearly 2 million active addresses daily.
The announcement initially sparked a slight uptick in SOL’s price, though broader market conditions tempered the gains. Still, this development marks a positive shift in sentiment for Solana, which had been hovering near $155.
Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood Crypto’s general manager, expressed his excitement: “Starting today, you can self-custody Solana tokens and send + receive over the Solana blockchain!”
