Sony has just released the Soneium testnet, Soneium Minato, a week after the launch of the Soneium blockchain. This new testnet is also available to all developers and creators to help advance the possibilities of blockchain solutions.
The Soneium Minato testnet is a sandbox environment that enables developers to develop and test their applications using test crypto assets. As for Sony, its mission is to offer an open-sourced public blockchain that fosters the creation of new web3 applications.
Apart from the testnet, Sony has also come up with the Soneium Spark Incubation program. This initiative is also meant to fund new projects by providing up to $100,000 to each team.
The program is an integrated program that is supported by all the divisions of Sony Corporation such as Sony Music, Sony Pictures, and Sony Global Education.
Soneium is a blockchain venture of Sony, which was launched last week and has the support of several key partners such as Pyth Network, Alchemy Pay, and Chainlink. Soneium was built in partnership with Startale Labs and other prominent players in the industry like Astar Network and The Graph.
The testnet launch is in line with Sony’s overall web3 roadmap. In August 2023, Sony bought the crypto exchange Whalefin which is currently known as S.BLOX which is yet to be launched.
With the launch of the Soneium Minato testnet and supporting new projects through Soneium Spark Incubation, Sony is set to become a major player in the blockchain industry and drive the advancement of web3 technologies.
