In a recent development, the hacker involved in the WazirX security breach has transferred $6 million in stolen funds to Tornado Cash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency mixer.
In the last hour, the WazirX hacker made 26 transactions in which he sent 100 ETH in each transaction to Tornado Cash. In these transactions, there has been a transfer of 2600 ETH, which is valued at 6 million at the current market price.
The hack, which happened on July 18, caused a startling $234 million loss of customer cash, or 45%. WazirX has filed a request for relief from the Singapore High Court in reaction to the attack to find a solution for its users, who are demanding payment for their damages.
The hacker’s usage of Tornado Cash exacerbates the problem by making it more difficult to locate and recover the stolen money.
