During a speech at the Economic Club of New York on Thursday, former president Donald Trump said he wants the United States to become the “world capital of crypto and Bitcoin”.
He also talked about a new idea inspired by Elon Musk to set up a government efficiency commission that would conduct a full audit of federal government spending and fix problems with fraud and waste of funds in the country.
Trump believes that fraud and improper payments cost taxpayers “hundreds of billions of dollars” every year.
Elon Musk has endorsed this initiative, expressing his support on X. Musk tweeted that the commission could “unlock tremendous prosperity for America,”
Trump said Musk will be heading this commission, joking that he might be up for the challenge given his extensive commitments despite his busy schedule running multiple high-profile companies.
In addition, Trump promised to slash outdated regulations, stating that his administration would remove at least ten old regulations for every new one introduced.
