As the mainnet launch approaches, Pi Network has announced the release of Pi Node Version 0.5.0 to prepare all nodes for this transition.
This new Pi node update will ensure a smooth transition to the Testnet2 blockchain, facilitating a seamless experience for node operators when the mainnet goes live.
In the announcement, the Pi team stated, “Testnet2 provides a more compatible and comparable environment to what nodes will experience on the Mainnet blockchain.”
While current Pi nodes can temporarily continue using the current Testnet, it will soon become unavailable. However, the Testnet will remain fully operational for Pioneers and Pi app developers and need no immediate action from them.
As highlighted in the latest Pi node update, nodes are central to the decentralization of the Pi blockchain. Any Pioneer with an internet-connected computer can run a node. Their contribution is crucial for achieving Pi Network’s vision as we move toward the Open Network phase in 2024.
The release of Node Version 0.5.0 will unlock the full potential of our 200,000+ node network. This will not only benefit all Pioneers but also the broader global community.
While the mainnet launch is expected in the fourth quarter of 2024, crypto experts have already started speculating about the price of the Pi coin after the launch.
