Kraken cryptocurrency exchange has released a new desktop trading app called “Kraken Desktop” for people who actively trade crypto
According to the press release, this app lets users track multiple live market feeds with a customizable layout, as well as charting and analysis tools that help users follow market trends in real time.
This public launch follows a private testing phase that was considered successful. The app gives traders full access to all of Kraken’s trading options, including spot and futures markets.
Moreover, the app replaces Cryptowatch, a popular trading terminal that Kraken discontinued in July 2023, which many users had relied on. Kraken Desktop has been built from scratch but is inspired by Cryptowatch’s features.
The Kraken Desktop is also made to be fast and reliable. The app was built using a programming tool called Rust, which helps keep the app quick and responsive while using less memory on users’ computers. It works on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems, allowing a wider range of users to access it.
The new app includes features designed for advanced trading. For instance, a “ladder trading” tool allows them to set up multiple orders at once, and an “auto-join” feature makes it easier to place orders to buy and sell as market prices change.
Clark Moody, Senior Engineering Manager for Kraken Desktop, explained, “Active traders play a crucial role in providing the crypto market with liquidity and helping set prices.”
Kraken has been expanding its services lately. Recently, it introduced kBTC, a version of Bitcoin on the Ethereum and OP Mainnet blockchains. The exchange also plans to launch a new Ethereum Layer 2 solution called Ink in early 2025.
