Particle, an AI startup co-founded by former Twitter executives, has launched the beta version of their AI-powered news app, that provides summarized content to readers, covering all sides of the story, to ensure a more nuanced and personalized news-consuming experience for them. The app promises to end “bias” in journalism by summarizing news from multiple sources to provide all-round and accurate information to readers.
According to Particle co-founders Sara Beykpour and Marcel Molina, the mobile application’s beta version was tested privately on a few iPhone and iPad users in U.S. on November 14.
Sara is the former senior director of Product Management at Twitter and has worked on products like Twitter Blue, Twitter Video, and Conversations. Likewise, Molina has been a former senior engineer at Twitter and Tesla.
According to a report in The Indian Express, while the duo initially wanted to launch an app with a social media focus, they later pivoted to news and information as a hard-sell of the platform.
How Does Particle Work?
The Particle App uses AI including ChatGPT 4.0, to create a summarized news content with multiple news sources to provide all sides of the story, so that readers understand the news better. For each news story, the app will create an AI-generated summary is given for all the news articles. The app also transparently shows the sources of content with its links, so one always knows where the news is coming from.
The app also has an AI Chatbox where readers can ask the questions about the story and get the answers. Readers have also been given the option to request other side of the story with multiple article links so that they get full understanding of the topic.
