Ankr, a decentralized Web3 infrastructure platform, has introduced RPC infrastructure for the XRP Ledger on August 21, 2026, providing access for enterprises and developers building on the network.
In an X post on Friday, Ankr stated that the service supports connections used within the Ripple ecosystem, which involves more than 300 financial institutions for cross-border payments across Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and other regions.
Partners in the Ripple network include entities such as SBI Holdings. The XRP Ledger processes transactions with settlement times of 3-5 seconds and fees measured in fractions of a cent. The network has operated since 2012.
The role of RPC infrastructure
RPC services form the interface between applications and the blockchain network. They handle data queries and transaction submissions. Reliability, latency, and data integrity of the RPC layer affect application performance. Ankr operates a distributed node network across multiple regions.
The setup includes redundancy to limit single points of failure. The company also uses verifiable RPC technology that signs responses within attested hardware enclaves.
Ankr holds SOC 2 Type II certification. It maintains a private fiber network and offers a 99.99% uptime service-level agreement. Dedicated enterprise endpoints are available for clients requiring specified capacity and support. The company lists clients that include Trust Wallet, Fireblocks, TRM Labs, and Dune Analytics among its enterprise users.
What does XRPL design provide
The XRP Ledger incorporates financial functions at the protocol level. These include payment channels, a native decentralized exchange, cross-currency settlement, multi-signing, and escrow. These features operate as core network capabilities rather than as separate smart contracts.
This structure differs from blockchains that add financial tools through general-purpose smart contract layers. Protocol-level functions reduce external dependencies for applications handling payments, custody, or compliance processes.
Connection to broader network developments
The XRP Ledger and its XRPL EVM sidechain recently gained support from Axelar’s interoperability network. The integration, announced by Axelar on August 4, enables transfers of supported assets across connected blockchain ecosystems. The XRP Ledger Foundation noted the update, which facilitates asset movement between networks.
Supported assets include XRP, SHx, USDf, SOIL, WETH, WBTC, mBTC, mTBILL and mXRP. Users can access these routes through the Axelar app without separate bridge infrastructure for each chain. This development expands options for moving assets beyond the native XRPL environment.
Availability of the service
Public RPC endpoints for the XRP Ledger are available through Ankr. Enterprise accounts offering dedicated capacity, service-level agreements, and direct support can be requested by teams operating within the Ripple ecosystem or building applications on XRPL. Ankr’s infrastructure covers node access for protocols, financial institutions, and enterprise teams.
The service aligns with the volume and reliability requirements of production applications on the network. The combination of protocol-level financial functions on XRPL and third-party RPC providers forms part of the current infrastructure supporting institutional use of the ledger. Related interoperability links, such as the Axelar connection, add further pathways for asset transfers across ecosystems.
