The Circle Internet Financial, an esteemed fintech company operating worldwide and recognized for its role as the issuer of USDC, recently revealed the selection of Heath Terbert for the responsibilities of Chief Legal Officer and Head of Corporate Affairs.
Heath Tarbert, the former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission during the Trump administration, has been appointed to join the team of Circle starting from July 1. Circle announced this development on Thursday, stating that Tarbert’s expertise will contribute to the company’s global expansion effort.
Tarbert has joined Circle serving as the Chief Legal Officer at Citadel Securities for almost two years. In his previous role, Tarbert was responsible for overseeing a wide range of areas, including global legal matters, compliance, surveillance, and regulatory affairs. Tarbert will be taking over from Flavia Naves, who had been serving as the General Counsel at Circle but reportedly announced her intention to leave the company earlier this year.
Regarding the recent addition of Tarbert to the team, Jeremy Allaire, the Co-founder and CEO of Circle, conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, “The opportunity to welcome Heath’s expertise and leadership to our executive team is an extraordinary step in Circle’s growth as a global company.”
Jeremy emphasized that as Circle strives to establish a connection between conventional finance and Web3, Heath’s unique perspective, legal expertise, and the extensive regulatory background will play a crucial role in enhancing the global utility and value of USDC.
Tarbert expressed his longstanding fascination with Jermy Allaire’s vision of enabling secure and swift digital transactions, as well as his admiration for Circle’s noteworthy achievements as a reputable and trustable global payment leader, prioritizing regulatory compliance.
