The National Crime Agency (NCA) in the United Kingdom is seeking to hire two investigators for its new digital assets team. This team will be specifically focused on handling crimes involving cryptocurrency.
The NCA seeks experienced police staff certified as financial investigators to join their team, offering a salary of around £47,380 ($61,076.37) with additional benefits.
The investigators’ main responsibility will be conducting complex investigations related to cryptocurrency and digital assets. They will utilize the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), which allows them to seize money acquired through illegal activities and use it for community benefit.
To aid in these efforts, the NCA has established a dedicated unit called the NCCU Crypto Cell. Its primary focus is to investigate cyber incidents involving cryptocurrencies.
The ultimate goal of this initiative is to crack down on illegal activities involving crypto assets in the UK and prevent the misuse of cryptocurrencies for unlawful purposes. The NCA views this as a crucial step in safeguarding the country from cybercrime.
